As the experts have stated it, dreams that are explained could help the dreamer solve his or her problems in life. In fact, these dreams are personal to the dreamer that the interpretations could be different and acting out on the solutions could make significant life changes. However, it is common for dreamers to forget the images they dreamt last night as soon as they wake up.

Here are some tips on retaining the memory of dreams:

• Remember: Short-term memory usually occurs on images seen on dreams. Experts say that is best to take a bit of time closing the eyes and make a mental picture of the images seen in the dream the night before.

• Write: Immediately write down on a pad placed near the bed those images dreamt. Be more specific in writing the descriptions by going beyond single words.

• Review: Check out if the terms written down matches the ones dreamt the night before.

Several theories have abounded as to why people dream, how dreams occur and what meanings can be assigned to dreams. It is said that dreams provide insights into people’s lives and for many; it is difficult to remember their dreams. It seems impossible but with conscious effort, it is indeed possible to remember one’s dreams.

1.    Be mindful and make a firm decision to remember your dream. If there’s a will, there’s a way, isn’t it.
2.    Put a pen and pad within your reach. Plain paper will be better because you’ll be using this to record your dreams.
3.    Put the alarm clock near your bed to wake you up a few hours after you’ve gotten sleep.
4.    Also, place a note under your alarm and remind yourself to take note of your dream.
5.    Go to bed early and do this regularly.
6.    Concentrate on remembering your dream.
7.    Record your dream on your journal.
8.    If it works the first time, do it another time.
9.    Increase the number of dreams you record.
10.    If the dreams you recorded seem to have similar meanings, decipher it.
11.    Check the meaning from a dream interpreter or dream dictionary.
Remembering your dreams isn’t hard. You just need some effort!
