Clothing giant reports positive growth in last quarter of 2009

Clothing giant Marks & Spencer reported a positive growth in the last quarter of 2009. This development came out following the final day of trading for the said quarter on December 26, 2009.
This is the first of its kind since the second quarter of the 2007-2008 fiscal year. Despite this bullish rise, the company stated that it missed expectations of 1.2 percent. Overall sales growth rose to 2.6 percent.
Company chairman Stuart Rose said that great sales during the Christmas season continued to the rise in revenues. He revealed that there was a spike in sales for women’s nightwear, footwear, knitwear and other general merchandise. He added that their food business also rose with the biggest ever one day sales recorded last December 23 at 50 million.
Rose said that they have continued with the full price stance which aided with the positive growth in revenues.
