Understanding Dream Interpretation from History to Present

Author: Willow  //  Category: Historical dreams

Dream interpretation is simply the process of giving meanings to dreams. In the past, Greece, Egypt and other ancient societies considered dreaming as a supernatural way of communication or divine way of intervening whose message can only be deciphered by those people with certain and special powers. However, these days, many schools offering psychology courses also offer different theories about dream interpretation.
The Greeks, during the ancient times, constructed and built Asclepieion temples. These temples were where the sick people were sent for healing. The ancient Greeks believed that the cures and treatments would be effective through the divine grace sent to the healers through incubating dreams.
Dreams were also interpreted by some people to be prophetic or as omens with particular meaning and significance. In ancient Egypt, the dreams of people were interpreted by priests. Daniel and Joseph were recorded in the bible as having dreams from God. The Holy Bible described many dreams and these were interpreted as divine revelation. The evidences of hieroglyphics as powerful way to depict and interpret dreams were also shown in many books. Indeed, dreams play a considerable importance not only during these days but also in the history.
