Roehampton University professor Claus Vögele wrote a piece in the Telegraph recently about what he had learnt from a talk conducted by a Harvard professor on dreams. The professor, Allan Hobson, had the dreams explained in terms on how it gives meaning to people’s lives.

It’s always a common wonder for people to wonder what dreams mean. According to Hobson, who has conducted research in REM sleep, dreams are actually not a way of dealing with the past but rather on coping with the picture. In fact, people dream “consciously” and not “unconsciously” because there’s the automatic preparation for the day ahead.

Hobson pointed out that most of the dreams are perceived to be bad ones, the common theme revolving on anxiety, fear and anger. He said that dreams give people the “worst case” scenarios in order for that person to find a way to deal with it once he or she wakes up. By being aware of these scenarios, persons tend to find ways not to let these happen.

There were many things discussed during the talk by Hobson. These new theories open new avenues for academics to determine what dreams mean and how it really affects the person’s perception of the future.

We all know that when earthquake strikes, there’s a possibility of massive destruction – such as tsunamis and falling structure. But what if we dreamed about this? How do we interpret this and what’s the significance of this in our lives?

Here are some of the interpretations that could aid you in finding out the meaning of your dreams:

• Earthquake dreams could be sending out a message that your life is currently in a trembling state. There may be some sort of an emotion struggle that you need to resolve. It could be a relationship that is now in a shaky state.

• The dream could serve as a warning. These warning may include an actual earthquake or an incident that could shatter your family, your relationship to loved ones or a career shakeup. This may be a time for you to think things over and consider other opportunities to put your life in order

• The dream could symbolize an overwhelming incident that will take place in your life. Tsunamis could happen when an actual earthquake strikes. However, this could also happen in your life especially if your encounter an emotionally overwhelming affair.
